For me, character are too small to this and other asset packs. Better make it average 32 px height. And with cartoon proportions (bigger head, torso, etc). Realistic proportions looks strange here.
This is a solid tileset for start up devs or anybody wanting to study some great pixel art. I have bought it to support the artist and I would urge others to do the same.
same as with Castlevania, the tiles rather have to follow a 8x8 grid, than being exactly proportional. That being said you don't have to implement the stairs, depending on what kind of game you make.
Yeah I realised this after I played around with them, I managed to double the stair count. Whilst I lost some of the beauty in your stairs, they look more visually acceptable if I take the lazy option and implement their collision as 45 degree slopes! I am really excited whenever I see a new asset pack being released, I cant wait for my Christmas holidays so I can start playing around with them in my engine :D
Do you have any plans for an enemy/boss pack to help boost the existing ones with the packs you have released so far?
Yeah that works, but also probably needs smaller stairs. The difficulty in terms of assetpacks is to provide a generalized middle which is most useful for most scenarios.
What I got in progress are currently 2 more Tileset packs (similar like the 3 currently existing ones) and another pack with a ton of character animations (same model as the sidescroller template, but dozens of new animations).
Since there is an enemy delivered with each pack I think the basics for building something are fulfilled (and so far I tried to make an enemy with unique behaviours for each pack), of course I understand that the more offering there is, everything gains in value.
But I can't say when i will release those, since I am working on it exclusively in sparetime hours.

Which crossroads did you use to make the deal with the devil in return for your pixel art skills? Asking for a friend.

Style is up to taste.
If you don't like the style, feel free to buy something else.

Thanks a lot for the purchase, I am glad that you are enjoying the set.
What also helps a whole lot in terms of support is rating the assetpacks via itch.io since this helps with discoverability.
I'm loving this, colours are fantastic! My only criticism is that the stairs appear to be a little too big for the player but they do look good!
