25 Classic Pixel Art Fantasy Characters 16-Bit:

Back to my Shop-page

This pack contains 25 highly detailed, top quality human fantasy sprites.

They are intented to be used in:

  • Common rpg battle system scenes (e.g. early Final Fantasy / Dragon Quest like battles, Lufia, Pokemon, Shadows of Adam)
  • Classic 3d dungeoncrawlers (e.g. Lands of Lore, Eye of The Beholder)
  • 2D topdown dungeoncrawlers (e.g. original Rogue and similar games, Stoneshard etc)

Every sprite has a native size of 64×64 pixels, which makes them perfect to use for current pixel art game resolutions.

The borderless style with strong colors also ensures that the sprites will set themselves clearly apart on common game background art.

  • every sprite is delivered with a cast shadow which also can be placed indepently for flying/floating sprites
  • no animations
  • a file which shows which icons could be used/purchased to fit with the sprites

Does this set fit together with any other assetpacks?

Yes, this assetpack fits together with many other assets I am offfering:

It fits together with the 50 16-Bit Designer Monsters - with both packs you have monsters and humans - enough for a complete game.

Also all sprites of this pack use armor and weapon designs featured in the Basic Fantasy Iconset, The RPG-Armor Iconset and the RPG-Weapons Iconset (24x24 and 16x16)

Will you keep this assetpack updated?

There are chances that I will extend this set later or add other assetpacks to my store which will fit together with this pack. Every asset I sell supports my itch shop and the money from sales gets invested into the creation of new assets.

These are nice! Just wondering, do you plan ever to do animations (ie idle, walk, attack, hit, die, etc)?  Also, do you do private commisions?

Currently I don't have any plans, as my current fulltime job takes up a lot of attention and energy. For the same reasons I can't do commissions.

Ok, thanks for responding.

Sure, thanks for buying the monsters. I had a sale up fo rthis as I released the new art, maybe you didn't see it back then.
here you go:

Heyyyy, the characters are based off your armor icons too. Nice! I like these.

Yes, they work together with the iconset :) I like it when games have that kind of continuity and want to give devs the change to have it if they want :)

Any plans for animation?

No.
Octopath which was the last big JRPG with a similar battlesystem as those sprites are intented for did not have animated enemy battler sprites, so I don't think it is necessary for this assetpack.

You can always try and add animations yourself! :D

Although they didn't have any active animations, most enemies did have some form of idle animation.

Argument aside, are you planning on creating any additional 'player' sprites to go with this aesthetic in the future? I know you have the RPG Character Template, but I was curious whether any other expansions or updates are planned.

Actually I just recently created this set and the villager set as add-ons for the 50 monsters set.

Since those monsters/characters  are designed more for a frontal battlesystem which usually doesn't feature player sprites, I could imagine that at some point in the future a good enhancement for this series would be sideview frames for the sprites to build something like a Final Fantasy II / IV / Octopath battlesystem.

Recently I have been significantly enhancing the GUI series. Generally I am taking requests into account, but since the assetstore is a sparetime project next to fulltime work.
